27-29 Ekim 2023
Kadın Eserleri Kütüphanesi ve Bilgi Merkezi Vakfı (KEKBMV) ile Beykoz Üniversitesi, 27-29 Ekim 2023 tarihleri arasında “100. Yılında Cumhuriyet’in Kadınları/Kadınların Cumhuriyeti (1923-2023)” başlıklı bir uluslararası sempozyum düzenleyecektir. Araştırmacılar ve katılımcılar bildiri özetleri ile web sayfasından başvuru yapabileceklerdir.
*Sempozyum web sayfası bilgileri Haziran 2022 tarihinde duyurulacaktır. Çağrı metni aşağıdadır. Sempozyum koşullara bağlı olarak çevrimiçi ve/ veya yüz yüze yapılacaktır; dili Türkçe ve İngilizcedir.
Günümüzde Türkiye’de toplumsal cinsiyet ve kadın çalışmaları, zengin bir kuramsal birikim, dinamik bir karakter ve çeşitlilik göstermektedir. Bu sempozyum, bu birikimin gücüyle, kadınlara Cumhuriyet’in yüz yıllık tarihinin hem güncel hem de tarihsel perspektifleri içeren bir muhasebesini yapabilmeleri için alan açmayı hedeflemektedir. Kadın ve toplumsal cinsiyet çalışmalarının geliştirdiği eleştirel bakış ve araçlarla; tarihsel, toplumsal, kültürel, ekonomik, politik, dinsel ve sanatsal bağlamları etkileşimleri içinde ele alacak; Cumhuriyet’in kazanımlarına, gerilim hatlarına kadınlar açısından bakacağız. Uluslararası katılıma da açık olan bu sempozyumu, kadınların tarihsel ve toplumsal deneyimlerini okumaları ve yeniden değerlendirmeleri açısından değerli bir imkân olarak görüyoruz. 100. yılında Cumhuriyeti konuşacağımız sempozyuma, toplumsal cinsiyet ve kadın çalışmaları alanındaki zengin araştırma birikimini daha da çeşitlendirecek yeni ve özgün çalışmalarla, farklı disiplinlerden genç araştırmacıların katılımını bekliyoruz. Sempozyum katılımcılarının bildiri önerilerinin daha önce bilimsel etkinliklerde sunulmamış ve herhangi bir yerde yayınlanmamış olması beklenmektedir. Sizleri, Cumhuriyet döneminde kadınların toplumsal dönüşüme katkıları, kazanımları, güçlenmeleri ve başarıları yanı sıra verdikleri mücadeleler, karşılaştıkları engeller, hak ve eşitlik konusundaki talepleri, önerileri, çözümleri, isyanları ile umutlarını dile getirmeye davet ediyoruz.

INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
ON THE CENTENARY OF THE TURKISH REPUBLIC
WOMEN OF THE REPUBLIC- “THE REPUBLIC OF WOMEN”
(1923-2023)
27th-29th October 2023
The International Symposium on the Centenary of the Turkish Republic: Women of the Republic – “The Republic of Women” organized by the Women’s Library and Information Center Foundation and The University of Beykoz, will take place in 27-29 October 2023 and will accept applications and abstracts via the symposium website.
*The information about the website will be announced in June 2022. The Symposium will take place in person and/or in virtual space according to the conditions due to the COVID -19 pandemic and the facilities at hand. The symposium papers can be presented in Turkish or in English.
The gender and women’s studies in Turkey are based on a rich theoretical background and present a dynamic character and plurality. Based on this accumulated knowledge, this symposium aims to create space for women to make an assessment of the Republic, taking both the current and the historical perspectives into account. With the instruments and critical approach provided by the gender and women’s studies, we will elaborate on the historical, social, cultural, economic, political, religious and artistic contexts in interaction with each other and look at the gains and the lines of tension created by the Republic. We see this symposium, which will also be open to international participation, as a valuable opportunity for women to read and re-assess their historical and social experiences during the different periods of the Republic. We encourage young participants from various disciplines to take part in this symposium, where we will speak about the Turkish Republic at its centenary, with new and original studies that will further diversify the rich research background in the field of gender and women’s studies. We expect the participants to give paper proposals that have not been presented in other scientific meetings or published elsewhere.We invite you to recount women’s contribution to the social transformation in the Republican period; their gains, empowerment and success stories besides the struggles they have fought, the obstacles they have faced, i.e. their demands, their solutions for women’s rights and equality; and also express their protests, hopes and wishes.
